The "I Wills" of Christ
We always hear of the I Ams of Christ, but have you ever
heard of the I Wills of Christ? Let’s take a look at some of the “I wills” today.
Also, not part of the message today, but it would encourage God if we, the born
again Christians started saying I will instead of I won’t.
I am so glad that when Jesus left His throne in Glory to come to earth, He didn’t come to do His will, but God’s will. Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
He put Himself on the back shelf if you will. He thought of you and I, and put others before Himself. That is the key to the Christian life. If Christ died for others, why can’t we live for others? Remember, the way to have true joy in your life is to serve Jesus first; Others second, and Yourself last. You say that doesn’t make sense. When we take care of others, then God will take care of us. I believe that God can take care of me way better than I ever could. As a matter of fact, every time we get in trouble trying to do something, we made the decision to try to do it. Why don’t you let God try? When we try to do for others we empty ourselves of the Holy Spirit so God can fill us back up.
If I poured water into a gallon jug and let it sit for two or three months; do you think it would taste good? Do you think it would smell good? Yet some of us received Christ as our Savior how long ago? And we do nothing to empty ourselves of the Holy Spirit which we got when we were saved. I wonder if God is thinking like Martha about our religion; “He stinketh”.
Luke 5:12-13 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The I will of God is to be saved, and not go to hell, but He will let you if it is your will. Just remember if you go, it will be against His will.
Leprosy was a vile disease and still is. As vile as the sin of man; and Jesus was willing to cleanse this man simply because he asked Him to. Many people think that they are too bad for God to love them, or they use it as an excuse (because of the hardness of their hearts) not to get saved, but God will save anyone who will come to Him and ask. If this leper would not have asked, he would have kept his leprosy till he died.
Now leprosy in the Bible is a picture of sin, because just like leprosy rots away the flesh, sin rots away his soul. And just like leprosy is contagious, so is sin. We like to justify ourselves by saying, “well I am only hurting myself so I don’t care”. But that isn’t true. When we sin, we hurt those around us, as well as bring them in as well.
John 6:39-40 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
He didn’t say He might, He said He will. Why can I not lose my salvation? Because it is God’s will that I can’t. I have no choice in the matter. What is everlasting life? It is life that lasts forever. It is something that will never end, so if I only have life until I sin, then God is a liar. And the Bible says in Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
How then can Jesus be lifted up if we blend in with the world? How t6hen can Jesus be lifted up if we keep our mouths closed? Not everyone will respond to the love of Christ, but we don’t know who will and who won’t. That is why we must be about the Father’s business, and tell as many as we can. When you see someone who isn’t saved, and you decide that he or she is too mean, or cold hearted, or ugly, or stinky, or nasty to talk to, then you are condemning that person to hell forever.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
He promised that He will come again, and He tells us to work till He comes. When Jesus comes, will He find you and I faithful doing what He commanded us to do?
When you were living at home; did your parents ever go somewhere, and tell you “when I get back, you better have this done.” And you went and did your thing, but just as soon as you were going to start doing what you were supposed to do, mom and dad drove up? Did you go in shock? Were you embarrassed? Or scared? You knew you were in trouble, and it was too late to do anything about it. Jesus left us some work to do while He’s gone. What are you going to do or say, when He comes back, and we were just about to start?
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
God’s will is for us to go to heaven so that we might behold His glory, and praise Him for eternity. Why not start now
