Be Ye Kind
It is a crying shame that in the world today, that the unsaved are more kind to people than the children of God.
I was at Sams the other day and it began to rain, just as I was headed to the exit. I blurted out, that's about right, it waits until the moment I am leaving to downpour. I was a little irritated but was hoping that someone would get a chuckle out of it. what I got shocked me to no end. A young man that I didn't know was also leaving with two to three thousand dollars (as it seemed) worth of product. Someone handed him a rain poncho, and he said to me. Watch my stuff and I will go get your car and bring it to the door for you so you don't get wet. All I could say was wow. I was totally blown away by his kindness to me.
We need to learn to be kind to one another. I say we need to learn to be kind, because that isn’t in us. In us is the wickedness of devils, and the worst thing that God could do to you is to let you do what is in you to do. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
We tend to pick and choose who we are kind to, when clearly our example (Jesus) was kind to everyone. But understand that there is a difference between being kind to and hanging out with. Why is it that if we choose someone as a friend, we are kind to them, patient with them, and even make excuses when the do things wrong, but if they are not our friend we will condemn them if they sneeze wrong. We need to be kind to all people; friend and foe. You never know who it is that you are talking about.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. God doesn’t want us to hang out with everyone but to be kind to everyone.
Part of being kind to one another is forgiving them. Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
This is a hard thing to do. Because of our wickedness we tend to pick and choose who we will forgive.
when I was in Abilene I was in the A W A N A building when I noticed two kids about to go at it. After breaking it up I sent all of them out except for one. After asking what happened, I found out that the boy said or did something mean to him. I said "it's easy to be a good Christian when everything is going your way, but when it crosses you, it is somewhat harder. Huh?
Ever notice that if we don’t like someone that they can’t do anything right? No matter what they do we find something that is wrong with it, and we become critical. When the whole problem isn’t that what they did was wrong, but who it was that did it. Does your Bible say in
Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Matthew 5:43-44 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Now which one of those categories; love, bless or pray, does your hate for them fall under? The simple fact is that we have different rules for different people, and shame on us for doing it. Have you ever known anyone, who it was ok for someone to do something, but it was wrong if you did? My mom was like that. Do you like it when people treat you like that? Then why would you be like that to others? James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
I can tell you why, because we don’t have the love of Christ in us, we have the love of our earthly fathers in us.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
That word constrain, means to drive. The love of Christ drives us to love everyone the same. Not because it is in us to, but because it is the goodness of God.
1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
You can make even an enemy to be nice to you by first being kind to them.
2 Chronicles 10:7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.
Why should I be kind to others? Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
We need to be kind to be a man or woman of God. Proverbs 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
You say you have no desire to be a man or woman of God. But one day you will, and it will be too late. Where do old crabs come from???
