Freedom 2
Hi friends! Can you believe we are
almost in to June already? We just celebrated Veterans Day and will soon see
Independence Day roll around. It will be a time to, as the world looks at it,
to “get down, and make it happen.” Well that is a pretty good motto for us as
believers in Christ. We need to get down on our knees to make something happen
for God. The Bible says in James 4:2 Ye
lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight
and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. God says we try everything the
world has to offer, and come up short. We do, because satan is the king of
coming up short. He gives us alternative after alternative, but still we find
our self in want, yet we don’t, or won’t pray to God and ask Him, when He tells
us to ask what we will. When you were growing up did you just expect dad and
mom to give you what you wanted? No, you were quick to tell them what you
wanted. (I want this, and I want that.) So why would we expect God to give us
what we want without asking? John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in
you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Maybe that is
the problem, we don’t abide in Christ, we want to abide in ourselves.
Also God says in Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. So it is quite obvious that getting down and making it happen is quite appropriate. But the unfortunate fact is, the unsaved world prays more than the redeemed of Christ do.
you longer than you want to stay, sin will cost you far more than you want to pay. Sadly, just as it says in Proverbs 26:11 (As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.) many people will continue in their sin and continue to lose their freedom that many veterans so bravely died for. There are many people on death row in Louisiana, who lost their freedom and will eventually lose their lives. But are we not likewise? When we trusted Christ as our Savior, were we not freed from the wages and condemnation of sin?
We were on death row, and the executioner (satan) was moving in. Yet President Jesus gave us a full pardon from our crimes, but we so foolishly look at the “fun” that those still lost in sin are having, and jump in head first. Not realizing that there is pleasure in sin; but only for a season. We must be sure to appreciate the freedoms in Christ that we have inherited, and not abuse them, nor take them for granted. It says in Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Here in America, we will celebrate our freedom, but I wonder. Are we really free?
(John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.) Some think that just because Jesus died on Calvary, they automatically get to go to heaven. This is one of the biggest lies of the devil. If we don’t ask God to pay our sin debt, then He will honor your decision and let you pay it in hell. So let us all enjoy our freedom in Christ, and give satan a black eye.
